Field work opportunity: Rapid Assessment of Connecticut Salt Marshes.

I have been working with the EPA/Atlantic Ecology Division creating an assessment protocol to determine the condition of coastal wetlands in New England. This is a joint venture with EPA and Massachusetts Coastal Zone Management in order to create a consistent methodology that can be used by all New England states. The rapid assessment includes vegetation and soil sampling as well as a rapid hydrological assessment. We will be testing the protocol in Connecticut this semester and I thought it would be a good opportunity for interested students to get some field experience and to participate in a regional research project. We can also discuss opportunities to create your own field project using this method and data.

If you want to join me in the field please email me at debora.fillis@yale.edu or call me at (617) 784-0880.
