Regulation of plant defense during host-microbe interactions

Dr. Cantó-Pastor in interested in understanding how plants let some beneficial soil microbes into their roots while keeping pathogens at bay. He is also interested in questions related to the role of tissue-specific immune responses in hosting beneficial microbes, and the preparedness for pathogen attack that these interactions confer. The goal of the Cantó-Pastor lab is to provide insight and tools that tackle the global challenges of food security and sustainable agricultural production.
