I am interested in using a wide range of genetic and genomic techniques to inform management and conservation of wildlife. While at Yale I am working a long-term project involving giant Galapagos tortoises. Recently a population of Galapagos tortoises was found to contain hybrid individuals from two species that were thought to be extinct. Using genomic techniques I aim to identify additional tortoises from these “extinct” species and help establish breeding programs to increase their numbers.
